Women's Service
What are Women’s Services?
The Women’s Service has been set up for women who are survivors of abuse with the emphasis on empowering women to improve their quality of life with support and guidance.
Every woman referred, who accepts the support, receives an initial assessment, which includes
- Tenancy support advice
- Income maximisation
- Person centered support
- Advice on safety
Once this is completed the woman can decide how she wishes to progress:
Our 1-1 mentoring service is aimed at women who do not feel ready to attend a group. Women who are supported are met with staff who have patience, empathy and are provided with a safe environment to discuss their confidential issues. The woman and her support worker will create an action plan together to work towards goals which ultimately will improve the woman’s sense of self-worth and belonging. This can last up to 6 months with every woman being fully supported to reach a positive destination.
Our women’s group has been shaped by the needs of the participants to enhance their confidence, self-worth and to empower them to make those positive changes to enhance independent healthy lives. The positive impact of the group is that women are there for each other through peer support and to break down the barriers to loneliness and isolation caused by past addictions and traumatic events. Participants can also be signposted to our Elevate service, who have opportunities for volunteering, training courses and employability.
