Workplace support

GCA provides a range of services for employers which aim to:

  • Reduce the sickness/absence level as a result of alcohol misuse
  • Increase awareness of alcohol issues in the workplace
  • Help line managers to recognise if an employee has a problem with alcohol use and to know and feel confident about how to respond

For Employers
GCA provides a range of services for employers which aim to:

  • Reduce the sickness/absence level as a result of alcohol misuse
  • Increase awareness of alcohol issues in the workplace
  • Help line managers to recognise if an employee has a problem with alcohol use and to know and feel confident about how to respond

Employee Counselling
GCA accepts referrals from employers who wish an employee to come for alcohol counselling or attend a groupwork programme. The service includes:

  • A full assessment of the employees drinking behaviour
  • A series of counselling sessions focusing on goal setting and action plans
  • A systematic review to ensure that the process is appropriate and effective
  • A regular attendance and progress report to the employer

Training
We can provide interactive workshops and training sessions in the workplace for all staff to increase their awareness and knowledge around alcohol issues. We can also provide training for line managers and team leaders to help them recognise if someone has an alcohol problem and how to sensitively broach the subject.

Policy Development
We can support employers to develop alcohol policies and train staff in their application.
